Winnipeg Beach in Gimli!

Tergesen’s General Merchant presents a Book Launch at the Aspire Theatre in Gimli, MB (76 – 2nd Ave) on June 21 at 7:30 pm, featuring readings by Patti Grayson, Sheila McClarty, and Dale Barbour, author of Winnipeg Beach: Leisure and Courtship in a Resort Town, 1900-1967.

Dale Barbour grew up on a farm in Balmoral, Manitoba. A former journalist, he is currently completing a PhD in history at the University of Toronto. His book Winnipeg Beach: Leisure and Courtship in a Resort Town was just published by the University of Manitoba Press.

Patti Grayson’s first novel Autumn, One Spring, was short listed for two Manitoba Book Awards. Her short fiction collection, Core Samples (Turnstone Press, 2004), garnered nominations for the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer and the Eileen McTavish Sykes Award for Best First Book. Patti has worked as a school librarian, advertising copywriter, puppeteer, and actor. She lives near Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Sheila McClarty, author of High Speed Crow (Oberon Press, 2010) won the Eileen McTavish Sykes Award for Best First Book at the 2011 Manitoba Book Awards.
