After more than 25 years of exemplary guidance and leadership, UMP’s Director David Carr is retiring.

The University of Manitoba Press is hiring a Director. This is a full-time position with an expected start date of October 4, 2021. The posting closes on September 3, 2021.

Reporting to the Vice-Provost (Libraries), the Director provides strategic leadership to and actively manages all operations of the U of M Press. The Director ensures the viability of the Press by providing strategic vision and direction for business development, editorial processes, production, and marketing and distribution. The incumbent is responsible for management of the Press’ overall operations and budget based on a business model that relies significantly on earned revenue. The Director aligns the Press with the best practices of university presses throughout North America, and guides organizational change, supervising a staff of five (5). They are entrepreneurial and proactive to ensure that the U of M Press employs innovative approaches in response to change and emerging trends in academic and general publishing.
