Page 7, lines 4 to 6, misidentifies Thomas Vincent as John Norquay's grandfather and should read as follows:
One of his grandfathers (Oman Norquay) was an Orkneyman who had come to North America as a low-level HBC servant and one of his great grandfathers (Thomas Vincent) was an England-born officer in the company.
Page 289, lines 7 to 9, misidentifies Andrew Spence as John Norquay's half-brother and should read as follows:
Spence, Norquay’s stepbrother (as well as a relative by marriage), had moved west in the early 1880s after failing to resolve his financial troubles.
